COLUMBIA, SC – Rogers Townsend is pleased to welcome Chilton Grace Simmons to the Firm, adding another experienced medical malpractice attorney to the health care team and an additional Lowcountry office in Beaufort, South Carolina.

Chilton has 20 years of litigation experience, and has exclusively handled medical malpractice defense for more than a decade. She defends physicians, hospitals, and other health professionals across South Carolina in cases  of alleged negligence, wrongful death, medication errors, and a variety of other malpractice claims. She also represents physicians before the South Carolina Board of Medicine.

An experienced trial lawyer, Chilton is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), the South Carolina Defense Trial Lawyers Association (SCDTAA), South Carolina Women Lawyers, and DRI.

Active in the community, Chilton actively campaigns to raise funds for the Child Abuse Prevention Association (CAPA) and Open Arms Shelter in Beaufort.  She provides pro bono legal counsel for Tidal Creek Fellowship Church, where she is a member and active volunteer.  She is a longtime supporter of Beaufort Academy, where she served on the Board of Trustees, including as Board Chair, for 10 years, and of Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
