As part of the Firm’s Litigation and Health Care teams, Jay focuses on the areas of commercial and business litigation, insurance coverage, and health care.

Jay graduated from the University of South Carolina with a B.S. in Mathematics and Political Science. He pursued his J.D. from the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law. During Law School, Jay was the Communications Editor for the South Carolina Journal of International Law & Business, President of the First-Generation Law Students Association, and Vice President for the Business Law Association. He was also a member of the Moot Court Bar, the Black Law Student Association, and was a student member of the Johnn Belton O’Neall American Inns of Court.

Jay was honored with the Best Oral Advocate Award from the Spring 2023 Legal Research, Analysis, & Writing Oral Argument as well as Best Brief from the Fall 2023 Kate Bockman Memorial Moot Court Competition. During his last year of law school, Jay was inducted into the Order of Barristers for exceptional advocacy and achievement during his time in Moot Court. He was also the recipient of the CALI Award for the highest grade in Secured Transactions.  Prior to joining the firm as an associate, Jay served as a Law Clerk for Rogers Townsend, a judicial intern for the Honorable Sherri Lydon at the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, and a judicial extern for the Honorable DeAndrea G. Benjamin at the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Outside of the firm, Jay enjoys playing the saxophone in the Charlotte Pride Band and cheering on the Gamecocks!
