Rogers Townsend’s Attorneys voted Legal Elite

Rogers Townsend is delighted to announce that 10 attorneys have been recognized as 2024 Legal Elite in the Columbia, Greenville, and Charleston Business Monthly Magazines.

Spencer Barrow was voted Legal Elite in Aviation Law and Construction Law. Spencer’s practice focuses on litigating complex civil cases in both state and federal courts across South Carolina and North Carolina.

Sean Foerster was voted Legal Elite in Eminent Domain. Sean represents utilities in eminent domain proceedings, banks, lenders, servicers, and title companies in matters involving recovery of commercial and consumer debt and loan collateral, and small businesses in commercial disputes.

Catherine Leatherwood was voted Legal Elite in Construction Law. 2024 is the 4th straight year Catherine has received this honor. Catherine focuses her practice in the areas of civil litigation, namely products liability, construction defect litigation, and general insurance defense. Catherine serves on the executive committee for Rogers Townsend.

Stuart Lee was voted Legal Elite in Commercial Real Estate and Corporate Law-Banking and Finance. Stuart leads the Business Banking Practice Group and serves on Rogers Townsend’s Executive Committee.

Elizabeth Mason was voted Legal Elite in Medical Malpractice. Elizabeth handles medical malpractice defense and other litigated matters. She defends physicians, hospitals, and other health professionals across South Carolina in cases of alleged negligence, wrongful death, medication errors, and a variety of other malpractice claims.

Chilton Simmons was voted Legal Elite in Medical Malpractice. Chilton has 20 years of litigation experience, and has exclusively handled medical malpractice defense for more than a decade.

Joseph (Joe) Tierney was voted Legal Elite in Medical Malpractice.  Joe leads the Health Care practice group and handles professional liability, premises liability, regulatory, compliance, insurance defense, premises liability, and other litigated matters for physicians, hospitals, nurses, dental professionals, veterinarians, pharmacists, EMT(s), managed care organizations and long-term care facilities. Joe serves on the executive committee for Rogers Townsend.

Christine Toporek was voted Legal Elite in Medical Malpractice. Christine represents physicians, dentist, nurses, pharmacists, veterinarians, hospitals, managed care organizations, and other health care providers in professional liability and regulatory matters. She also handles premises liability and general insurance defense for other corporate entities.

Michael Weaver was voted Legal Elite in Bankruptcy and Creditor Rights.  Michael is a member of the Firm’s Business & Banking Practice Group and focuses on creditors’ rights and collection law, bankruptcy, commercial litigation, corporate transactions, board governance, and fiduciary duty matters.

Robert (Bob) Wood was voted Legal Elite in Appellate. Bob Wood concentrates his practice in civil litigation, with particular emphasis in commercial litigation (including representation of creditors in bankruptcy court), real estate litigation, and insurance litigation. He also counsels attorneys on legal ethics and defends legal malpractice suits and grievances.
